The Hut experience

Ok Corona virus meant only 4 people could sleep in the hut so that was interesting application of the 1.5 ruling separation. It stood atop the mountain so the views were quite something The fire was still warm from previous guests and most welcome . Loved seeing teens , adults of all ages crouched around the fire trying to avoid the smoke but bask in the warmth. A couple of stragglers marched in around 7pm . They certainly looked like troupers all very organised and tiny backpack . About 3 tarps were set up and luckily little rain. The teens munched through almost all their supplies and told us they  would have been quite happy to carry an extra 2 kg of food.  Apparantly the wind prevented the teens from sleeping til midnight ...poor darlings. Maybe in the hut would have made them feel more secure. Here's the link if you want to plan your hike the-darling-range

I can't believe the kids get so fixated on these phones, xbox...!! I feel ready to implement a couple of the suggested changes . Here's my impetus : This article I just read .... One of the ways to balance this which might be helpful for families is to be thinking about electronic games and screen time use in general as part of a healthy diet of sitting and being active. Tips for Parents:  Have clear rules about when and for how long screens can be used. Use a 5 minute/1-minute count-down warning when the time is coming to an end. Look for games that allow levels reached to be saved. Breakdance

Now we have been arching our backs the kids and I as we watch Dance Academy entranced . Do you identify ? It was a laugh seeing our four year old impersonation of the breakdance or ? As he’d witnessed on the show . Both him and sister are committed to undergoing the transformation into these dancers they see . The suster is convinced she will develop the same level of skill in weeks ... Me ...the show just makes me realise how my so called fit really is not that fit compared to these dancers . Makes me question my level of commitment to anything ! Have I applied for sufficient jobs today , prepared enough food , cleaned the house ...? Much that I want to express myself I am tired of talking and want pushing to get things done . A hot tea and to lie down and read my book seems awfully appealing at the moment .

Day Three - What was notable and what to bury

What is notable: We sure worked hard on the chicken coop having to endure a noisy tribe of kids to Bunnings and back and sift through the crowds at Bunnings (wasn't even a sale!) . I resisted the temptation to block out the bedlam with music as that would have frustrated my mother even further. Then a semi - enjoyable trip to the shopping mall in search for banks . I regretted that . I had already had enough. But heh... we got through it and remained fairly amiable. I had heard the expression to show compassion towards kids was "try again" and I managed to tack that onto a range of at least 6 poor behaviors . Must say it kept me on schedule rather than dissolve into tears. Bless my eldest - I had explicitly showed him the circled items he was to buy from Aldi and somehow he came out with a LOT of extra 'luxuries' (mouthwash....I had said toothpaste). What a sucker! He said "Mum, it was all so cheap". Going out for coffee alone this morning walking alo...
